The mixed stitch stripey hook-a-long..

One of my favourite things to do is to read other blogs (escpecially crochet ones) and be inspired or just look adoringly at all the lovely things that people find time to make. One of my current favourites is Little Woolie, check out the link here. Jules is a crafty Scottish lady living in Australia with her sons and making her house all girly and crafty.

Look at some of her gorgeous makes:

Close up stripy loveliness...

Pretty pastel squares

Yummy Japanese inspired motifs

Hanging flowers

And my very favourite is this beautiful stripey blanket that she created last year. I just cant get it out of my mind!

Its just amazing isn't it??!! The colours, the textures, it makes me feel so happy!

So when I checked her blog Little Woolie and saw that she was starting a 'Mixed stitch stripey blanket crochet-a-long' I knew that this was my opportunity to make something lovely for my home rather than to sell at a craft fair or for my secret project.

I am really quite poor at the moment (end of a 5 week month, plus going on holiday on Sunday!) so raided my pink plastic wool box to see what I had lurking....

....A lot of Stylecraft polyester was the answer but in fairly bright and cheerful colours which will be ideal I think. Either for a nice picnic blanket or maybe a throw for the bed?

I created a chain of 300 stitches, then worked 3 rows of hdc (yellow, coral and lime green) then have started with my granny stripe in lilac and blue. I'm fairly pleased with it so far but I think it might be one where you have to do a bit more before the colours all start to work together.

A quick catch up!

Well, as usual, it has been an age since my last post. So long in fact that since  I last wrote, we then I have moved to London!

Jamie got his dream job of becoming a fireman. After a lot of exams, interviews and physical tests he finall got the ok in November! It was a very scary time. I was sad as I didnt want to leave all our friends in London and cried.... A LOT!

But as these things have a way of doing, it all worked out! We found an amazing flat, better than anywhere we lived in Liverpool (albeit twice as expensive, eek!) but it has a garden and beautiful original features...

...and I got myself a great job working for another toy company which is really good too.

And after 3 months of hard training and tough revision Jamie became a real life hero!

Wow, how handsome!
So yes, all is good.

And obviously we were here for the Olympics which was AMAZING! I didn't manage to get any tickets but I did go to the road race and marathon which took place along the streets of London.

And I have been working on an amazing new project which I hope to share with you over the next few weeks. Its all very top secret but you may get some little sneaky photos...

Also i have booked myself on my first craft fair in London. Its at the Tooting Tram and Social and is run by the lovely Kiki at Wonderhill Markets! I shall be there on the 30th September between 12 and 5! Put it in your diaries now!

Right off now but am really going to try and blog everyday. Now I have an iphone for photograph opportunities it should be much easier, see you!x

Bye bye babies....

Sorry i have not been on here for a while, making and moving and the sunshine last week kind of took over!

Anyway I am back and with lots to say.

Firstle, I had had to say byebye to all my littles babies who were taken by a beautiful craft shop in West Kirby called Staaks! The lady, Kara, who ran this shop was so excited by my little beauties that she took them all! How exciting! But now my nest (or pink box) is empty and I am madly panicking about making more in  my evenings!

Secondly, I met a girl called Becka on Etsy Merseyside Team who has complete revamped my Etsy and Folksy with her fabulous graphics! How amazing do they look? I am so pleased with them. Becka has her own Etsy shop here in which she sells her beautiful cards and graphics and will soon offer her graphic design talents so you too can have a gorgeous banner!

My fabulous new business card!
And finally.....my footstool from e-bay arrived!

Ta daahhhhh!!!!

Actually quite like the top as it is, but shhh dont tell Jamie! He isnt too keen on my plan for the crochet top!

The girls couldn't help but get a look in the action!

I am having to put the crochet cover for it on hold as my lack of stock is stressing me out, but dont worry, it will get done and I will take lots of pics for you!

Have a good weekend everyone, dont get too wet! I am off for a textily weekend in Darlington with my uni friends. I cant wait xxxx

Pouftastic!

Happy Monday!

I had an extremely busy weekend, we moved flat (yeah!) and I had a 2 day craft fair in aid of Claire House on the Wirral so it was quite a relief to get back to work.

A few of my oldest animals went to new homes, so farewell to the purple pony and knitted pink pony... I hope life treats you well!

Anyway onto my secret new project....

I was just looking at some blogs (as one does) and came across this A-M-A-Z-I-N-G crochet pouf from Dottie Angel... It was love at first sight!

Dottie Angel - crochet footstool
Now as much as I love these delicate colours, my living room is purple, pink and lime so I pulled out some wool that I had (from one of my UFOs - a granny squares blanket) and started crocheting...

The new flat where this particular little gem will be situated!
Now I know we arent there  yet, but with no fairs booked for a while I am desparete to finish this one (and maybe the matching blanket!)

Lola and Nessa can't wait to cover it with their fur I'm sure!

Lola
Oh my goodness they are so flipping cute!

I actually dont mind if it doesn't sell as I will keep it for my own baby one day!

And this leads me onto my next blog post quite nicely...

My baby blanket challenge

Happy Thursday!

I can't belive its that time of the week already! I have been very busy, making a May the Mouse and Vann the Cow for Strawberry Lemonade Boutique, building up my stock levels for all my fairs coming up in June and planning for my boyfriend Jamie's birthday on Saturday! I have an exciting plan but shhhh...its a surprise, I will tell you all about it next week.

I have also started working on my second baby blanket....

I started crocheting it when I was in China and Hong Kong the other week with work. Its in baby blue, denim blue, lime green, orange and jade! I love the unusual choice of colours I have combined. I think its going to look really fab when its made.

A little sneak preview here....

Just need someone with a few pounds or dollars to spare who appreciates such great taste to buy it! haha!
